Inspire Me Thursday

The 5 Senses (MixedMedia)

The 5 Senses is the theme on Inspire Me Thursday

This is my first ever mixed media piece. I'm not very happy with it, but it'll do. I painted a thick coat of gesso that I then scratched with the back of my paint brush to create texture. I then painted that a deep rich red, added gold highlights to the raised parts with my fingers and created a border. I used a paintbrush and my coffee as paint to color the top half of the face, smells good! Finished of by painting the bottom part with orange acrylic and gold pen. For the words, I first scanned the piece and then added the words and effects in photoshop.

See - My art supplies all over the place and a blank piece of paper, my partner mopping, the silent TV, my cup of coffee and my M&M's.
Touch - The feeling of the paper, the paint on my fingers, the texture of the gesso background, my coffee cup.
Smell - The aroma of coffee, the paint, my partner (Aqua di Gio).
Hear - The coffee machine, Kelly Clarkson in my cd player, my hair drier trying to dry my gesso a little faster, the crunch of M&m's in my mouth.
Taste - M&m's, coffee (used to stain my paper), paint... naaahhh, I not that crazy ;-).
